London Marathon 2016

A story from Jonny...
I did it. In 4 hours, 58 minutes I made it round the 26.2 miles. Well, only just. It started so well, too well perhaps. At halfway on Tower Bridge, I couldn't have planned it any better. My knee injury wasn't playing up, I was running well and optimistic about finishing in a great time. But I spoke too soon and then had to run for 12 miles with a painful knee and would not have got through without the help from St. John Ambulance and their physios! Oh and the determination to beat Sara's marathon time. Everyone says the crowds carry you and that couldn't be more true than at London. Crowds everywhere cheering you on, random people cheering your chosen charity and even pep talks from a group of lads on a balcony. All in all, it was worth it. Over £7k for the charity, finished under 5 hours and knee is back in shape for the next one, which will be revealed in the next month or so. |
